Delhi Capitals star Mukesh Kumar pulled off a stunning catch to bring an end to Sherfane Rutherford’s knock. The already struggling Mumbai Indians were hit with more disappointment as Sherfane Rutherford, who was building a partnership with the stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav to stabilise the innings for the team.The partnership ended when Rutherford attempted a slog-sweep off Vipraj Nigam but was caught by Mukesh Kumar at deep square leg. The video posted on X, shows Rutherford playing the shot only to be caught by Mukesh Kumar and dismissing Rutherford.

After Rohit Sharma’s wicket in the 10th over, Sherfane came in for the fourth wicket. Rutherford hit his only boundary a powerful inside-out drive over cover off the final ball of the 11th over bowled by Kuldeep Yadav. Suryakumar supported the stand with a delicate ramp shot for four against Vipraj Nigam at the start of the 12th over. They both shared a brief partnership of 15- runs before the West Indies’ player was dismissed by a ball from Vipraj Nigam.

Mumbai Indians post decent total of 162 at a loss of six overs

The IPL match between MI and DC took an interesting turn when the MI batters were dismissed in a single over by Mukesh Kumar, making the score 18-2, when the stand-in captain for today, Suryakumar Yadav, tried building a partnership with Rohit Sharma. Sharma and Yadav put together a crucial 53-run partnership for the third wicket. The duo joined forces in the 3rd over after Mukesh Kumar dismissed both Ryan Rickelton and Tilak Varma in quick succession, leaving the Mumbai Indians (MI) struggling at 18/2.

They stabilised the innings from 18/2 (2.3 overs) to 71/3 (9.3 overs). Rohit hit a towering six off Vipraj Nigam in the 7th over to reach 52/2. The stand was broken when Rohit Sharma was caught by Nitish Rana at cover off the bowling of Axar Patel for 35 runs. Yadav and Rutherford then made a 15-run partnership before being dismissed by Nigam. The skipper was also dismissed briefly after Rutherford’s wicket by Lungi Ngidi, making things difficult for the team.
