Prashant Veer had a field day in the IPL Mini Auction 2026 as he was sold to Chennai Super Kings for a massive 14.2 Crore. Chennai Super Kings had to see off early interest from Rajasthan Royals and a late challenge from Sunrisers Hyderabad to secure Veer, whose price kept climbing sharply through the bidding. The deal made the 20-year-old the most expensive uncapped player in IPL auction history. His base price was 30 Lakh and he went for a staggering 14.2 Crore. This will be his first experience in the Indian Premier League and he will be wearing the yellow jersey for IPL 2026.

In 12 T20s so far, he has scored 112 runs at a strike rate of 167.16 and claimed 12 wickets in nine innings at an economy rate of 6.45. After breaking through in the UP T20 League with Noida Super Kings, Veer is seen as a long-term option and like to like replacement for Ravindra Jadeja at Chennai Super Kings. Prashant Veer was also called for trials by CSK and he impressed them and is expected to fill that gap, offering both spin and batting depth, and potentially becoming a key long-term all-rounder for the team.

Prashant Veer also won the emerging player award in the recent edition of UPT20 playing for Noida Super Kings. Prashant Veer scored 320 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 155.34 with an average of 64, while also picking up eight wickets in eight innings at an economy of just 6.69 and a strike rate of 19. Today will be a day to remember for the young and rising player who will be featuring in IPL 2026 representing Chennai Super Kings.
