As Premier League gets ready for the much-awaited clash between Manchester United and Manchester City on March 6 (Sunday), the Red Devils have reportedly been struck with a huge blow. According to the Athletic, Man Utd star Cristiano Ronaldo has been ruled out of the big clash due to an injury. The same report also suggested that Edinson Cavani might not be unavailable for selection, which could leave manager Ralf Rangnick without any striker.
It is going to be quite an interesting thing to see how Manchester United lines up for the big match. While they will have an option of playing Bruno Fernandes as False No. 9, the most likely alternative for Rangnick would be to start with Marcus Rashford in front of the attack, alongside Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga, with Bruno in the No. 10 role.
Manchester United predicted XI (vs Man City): David de Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay, Fred, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Elanga, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford.
A big Manchester Derby at Etihad
The Man City vs Man Utd game is scheduled to kick off at IST 10:00 PM, which will be played at Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola's side (66 points in 27 games) will be desperate for a win to hold on to 1st position in standings, with Liverpool only 3 points behind. If they lose tonight, it will open the doors for Jurgen Klopp's side to come right back in the title race.
Meanwhile, Manchester United (47 points in 27 games) are in a close race with West Ham, Arsenal and Tottenham for the Top 4 place and a loss in this game could really hamper their chances for next season's UEFA Champions League ambitions.
