The Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen has received death threats directed at him and his family after he was head-butted by Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez, who received a red card during the Premier League 1-1 draw at Anfield.

Núñez was sent off at the 53-minute mark when he got face to face with Andersen and head-butted him. After the game, the Reds are winless after two fixtures and hence the fans voiced their frustration by messaging Andersen on Instagram, where he shared the abusive messages he had received on the stories.

“Got maybe 3-400 of these messages last night. I understand you support a team but have some respect and stop (acting) tough online,” Andersen expressed as he shared screenshots of abusive messages and death threats in his inbox. “Hope Instagram and the Premier League do something about this.”

Darwin Núñez’s red card will give him a three-match ban and the Liverpool manager, Jürgen Klopp, who is facing a striker crisis with Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota injured, said he hoped the Uruguay international would learn from his mistake.

Klopp, after the match, wasn't happy with Nunez's red card and considered his reaction 'wrong'. He then addressed how he will have to learn from this mistake and come back stronger.

"A little provocation here and there – and definitely the wrong reaction. A clear red card, I cannot deny that. Yeah, he will learn from that. Unfortunately, he has now a few games’ time to do so. That’s not cool for us in our specific situation, even less, but that’s how it is", Klopp said.

He then talked about how he will have a conversation with the Uruguayan striker. Klopp said, "Yeah, of course, I will speak with him. I came in and I wanted to see the situation; in the game, I couldn’t see anything so I didn’t know what happened. I saw Andersen on the floor and Darwin walking away, that was my picture.
