The Chennai Super Kings has already firmed their authority in the Indian Premier League by winning the prestigious tournament four times; now, the Chennai franchise is stepping into establishing cricket academies for boy and girls in Tamil Nadu. In a statement released by the Chennai franchise, CSK CEO K.S Viswanathan confirmed the news stating that "This will be the right opportunity for us to share our experience and help nurture the next generation of cricketers."

As per CSK's statement, CSK will start establishing Super Kings Academy in Chennai and Salem. Later, it will expand across Tamil Nadu, India and the rest of the world in the years to come. The first Super Kings Academy in Chennai will be located at Thoraipakkam, while the one in Salem will be at the Salem Cricket Foundation. Australian cricketer and CSK batting coach Mike Hussey was also quoted in the press release issued by the CSK wherein he claimed that, it was a fantastic initiative and "I am really excited about it." Adding further, Hussey explained that such initiatives will provide numerous opportunities to youngsters to get access to some great facilities great coaching and then hopefully improve their game. Aussie cricketer also hopes that "It would be really great to see such players coming out of these academies playing for CSK in the IPL."

The official statement by the MS Dhoni-led side also clarified that the academies would have BCCI-certified coaches "who will impart CSK system of learning to students". The academy will have access to learning and training methodology from CSK and guest lectures from CSK players and support staff. CSK bowling coach L. Balaji claimed in the statement that budding cricketers from various parts of the country would benefit from the initiative.

"Over the years, CSK have conducted a lot of junior-level cricket tournaments (Junior Super Kings) with schools across the state. There have been a lot of cricketers who have been sent overseas for exposure," he mentioned.

The former India pacer Balaji explained that CSK is trying to provide an opportunity to talented and potential kids in rural areas to groom their skills. "The academy in Salem is going to help other districts which are nearby as well. In modern-day cricket, your boundaries shouldn't be restricted to major cities. India is a vast country with a lot of talent. I feel they deserve the exposure, and that's what CSK is trying to achieve with this (academy)," said Balaji.
