The picture for the race to the semifinal berth at the Commonwealth Games 2022 Women’s Cricket competition seems to be getting clearer. While Australia have sealed the deal for the final four having won both their Group A matches, Pakistan, the team they will be up against, have already been eliminated from the semis race. The Aussies could view this as an opportunity to rest some of their senior players and improve on the few areas they think they need improvement.

Having said that, sports can all be about momentum sometimes and heading into the knockout stage of the tournament, the gold medal favourites will not want to risk putting a foot wrong. Pakistan, meanwhile, will play to salvage their pride and would want to return home at least with a win against their name. The fact that it might come against this Australian side will be some achievement to boast of.

Here is what the numbers suggest could happen in this match.

1. Toss Prediction

Taking only the matches played in Commonwealth Games 2022 into consideration, while Pakistan have won both the tosses in the tournament so far, Australia have won and lost one each in their two matches. So predicting Pakistan to win the toss.

2. Win Possibility

Australia are the superior side without a doubt. In fact, Pakistan are yet to register a win against Australia in Women’s T20Is. So predicting Australia to easily win this match.

3. Team of the Day

The Team of the Day is Australia. They haven’t yet lost a match in CWG 2022 and are also yet to lose against Pakistan in T20Is. Both indicators suggest the Aussies should be able to register a comprehensive win.

4. Powerplay Score

Pakistan’s average powerplay score in CWG 2022 so far has been 31.5. Meanwhile, Australia’s average powerplay score in the competition has been 43. So predicting Australia to score over 40 while Pakistan should end up with fewer runs.

5. Average Score

The average first innings score in CWG 2022 in matches not reduced to less than 20 overs is 127. However, this appears to be a lower score especially because of the match where Barbados were bowled out for 64. Otherwise, anything above 160 could turn out to be a really challenging score while if the first team ends with 127, it could be a major advantage to the team batting second.
