It was a crucial day at the Commonwealth Games 2022 for the Indian shuttlers. While India is banking on the sport to add to its medal tally big time after weightlifting gave India the impetus it needed in the beginning, badminton players from the Indian contingent had an unbeaten day on the field. The headliners were India's top medal contenders in the women's and men's singles categories PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth.

While the women's doubles duo of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand started the day with a 21-2, 21-4 win over their Mauritius opponents Leung For Sang Jemimah and Ganesha Mungrah in the pre-quarterfinals to reach the final 8, it was followed by Kidambi Srikanth's 21-9, 21-12 win over Sri Lanka's Abeywickrama Dumindu.

Later in the day, India's PV Sindhu also eased into the quarterfinals by beating her opponent from Uganda Kobugabe Husina in straight games 21-10, 21-9. Meanwhile, India's Lakshya Sen will face Australia's Ying Xiang Lin in the Men's Singles round of 16 match which will be followed by Aakarshi Kashyap's Women's Singles round of game against Cyprus' Eva Kattirtzi.

India's final badminton match of the day is the men's doubles round of 16 where Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be up against the Pakistani duo of Ali Murad and Muhammad Irfan Saeed Bhatti.
