Gold medallist boxer Nikhat Zareen and Indian table tennis legend Achanta Sharath Kamal will be India's flagbearer during closing ceremony of Commonwealth Games 2022 at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham on August 8. India has so far clinched 55 medals and stands at fifth place in the medal tally.

World champion Nikhat Zareen claimed gold medal in the women's 50kg flyweight at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Zareen outplayed Northern Ireland's Carly McNaul by unanimous decision in the summit-clash to win her first CWG gold. Meanwhile, Indian table tennis legend Achanta Sharath Kamal defied age as he teamed up with young Sreeja Ajula to win the mixed doubles gold medal at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday.

The pair of Sharath and Akula registered comprehensive win by beating Javen Choong and Karen Lyne of Malaysia 11-4, 9-11, 11-5, 11-6 in the gold medal match. Prior to the closing ceremony, multiple Indian athletes will be in action on the final day of the competition as they seek to extend India's medal tally. At present, India ranks fifth with a total of 55 medals including 18 gold medal, 15 silver and 22 bronze.
