Indian men's hockey team continued it's unbeaten run in the Commonwealth Games 2022 as they defeated Canada 8-0 in Group B match on Wednesday, August 3. India will play their Birmingham Games men's hockey final match of Group B on Thursday against Wales.

Indian men's hockey team began the Group B match against Canada on a high note as they managed a 4-0 lead in the first 30 minutes of the game.

India won two penalty corners in just five minutes into the game but failed to convert either of them. However, Indian vice-captain Harmanpreet Singh broke the deadlock soon as he converted the penalty corner with a drag-flick. Just three minutes later, Amit Rohidas increased India's lead to 2-0 over the Canadians.

Before the match against Canada, Harmanpreet said, "Canada is a tough opponent, it has been a while since we faced them in any official tournament, but our game plan is clear and the players are ready to execute it perfectly as our preparations for this game have been rigorous."

Lalit Upadhyay and Gurjant scored the third and the fourth goal for India to give their team a 4-0 lead at the end of the first half. Akashdeep added the fifth goal to India's tally in the third quarter.

In the last quarter, Harmanpreet scored his second goal and few minutes later Mandeep scored India's seventh goal. Akashdeep scored his second and India's eighth goal in the last minute.

Team India began their CWG 2022 men's hockey campaign with a 11-0 win over Ghana and then played a 4-4 draw against England after leading the game 3-0 till the first half.
