Despite losing the first game against Australia Women, India Women is being considered as one of strong medal contenders in the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. According to fresh reports, India women's fast bowler Pooja Vastrakar is set to join the squad after recovering from COVID-19.

Reports have claimed that Vastrakar has returned negative test results and will be available for the final group stage game against Barbados on August 3.

Earlier, Vastrakar was in quarantine in Bengaluru after testing positive for COVID-19. An Indian Olympics Association's official had earlier confirmed that S Meghana and Pooja Vastrakar returned positive tests a day after the Indian team left for the Commonwealth Gams on Monday.

S Meghana on Thursday had confirmed that she came out of the quarantine following a negative COVID results. She had posted a story on her official Instagram account of the boarding pass of her flight to Birmingham, hinting towards the fact that she will soon board a flight for Birmingham.

Talking about their performance from the CWG 2022 so far, Team India suffered a narrow 3-wicket defeat against Australia Women. Renuka Thakur's brutal spell of 4/18, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur's valiant half-century went in vain as Ashleigh Gardner played a blitz knock of 52 runs to help Australia chase down 155.
