India's wait for maiden gold medal in Hockey at the Games continues as Australia defeated Indian men's hockey team in the Commonwealth Games 2022 final on Monday. Team India had to settle with a silver after losing 7-0 against the Aussies in Birmingham.

Australia won three penalty corners in the first quarter and scored the first goal in the first 10 minutes into the game. Australia, then scored the second goal of the game with close to one minute remaining in the first half and took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter of men's hockey final at the CWG 2022.

Australia continued their dominating run by scoring six goals in three quarters of the game as India failed to score a single goal. In the fourth quarter, Australia scored one goal to register an unassailable 7-0 lead over India.

Earlier, both India and Australia registered an identical 3-2 win over South Africa and hosts England respectively in the semifinals of men's hockey at the Birmingham Games. With the win, Australia have managed to win all seven gold medals in Hockey at the Commonwealth Games since the game's induction in the quadrennial event in 1998.
