Javelin thrower Annu Rani won the bronze medal for India in women's javelin throw event on Sunday at the  Commonwealth Games 2022. Annu Rani made a 60 metres throw to secure the third spot as Australia clinched the gold and the silver medal in the event.

Anu Rani won her first Commonwealth Games medal and fourth medal for India in athletics on Sunday at the Birmingham Games. With the bronze, Anu Rani became first Indian woman javelin thrower to win a medal in the Commonwealth Games.

The 29-year-old javelin thrower launched the spear to a distance of 60 metres in her fourth attempt to clinch the bronze medal on the penultimate day of the CWG 2022. Since Neeraj Chopra withdrew from the Games, it was first and only medal for the Indian contingent at the Birmingham Games.

Meanwhile, Indian athlete Sandeep Kumar secured bronze medal in men's 10,000m race-walk event while Eldhose Paul and Abdulla Aboobacker made history by clinching gold and silver medal in men's triple jump event on Sunday.
