India got a top twi finish in the men's triple jump on Sunday at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. Eldhose Paul & Abdulla Aboobacker won gold & silver respectively with India's Praveen Chithravel finishing fourth.

Aboobacker started first amongst the three Indians and with a good takeoff and landing, he marked the lead with 16.57m jump in Round 1. However, gold-medallist Paul didn't have a great start as he covered only 14.62m distance in his first attempt.

Going into the second round with a lead, Aboobacker finished Round 2 with 16.62m jump, whereas, Eldhose Paul was fourth after his second attempt with a 16.30m leap. But all the action shifted to Eldhose Paul in the third round where he breached the 17m mark (17.03m) and put himself at the first place.

But as things progressed, Eldhose Paul continued his lead with the 17.03m leap and took Aboobacker at the second place with he taking a 17.02m leap in the fifth and final attempt of the event.
