CWG 2022 Lawn Bowls: Indian men’s pair of Dinesh Kumar and Sunil Bahadur secure quarterfinals berth

The Indian men’s pair of Dinesh Kumar and Sunil Bahadur defeated the English pair of Jamie Walker and Sam Tolchard in the lawn bowls event at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Sunday. The Indian men’s Lawn Bowls pair now advance to the quarter-finals in Birmingham Games 2022.

Dinesh Kumar (skip) and Sunil Bahadur (lead) were leading the event 10-5 after the eighth end an eventually won 18-15. The duo made a much-needed comeback to block the English pair’s effort.

In their first game on Friday, Dinesh Kumar and Sunil Bahadur had gone down to Malaysia 14-17 but quickly recovered by winning over Falkland Islands (36-4) and Cook Islands (15-8). The Indian pair have now moved to the quarterfinals stage where they will take on Northern Ireland later in the day at 10.30 pm IST.

Meanwhile, Indian men’s triple team has bowed out of the Lawn Bowls event after two losses and a tie while Tania Chaudhary, who already crashed out from the women’s singles competition, secured a consolation win by defeating Shauna O’Neill of Northern Ireland 21-12.
