Indian wrestlers have continued their dominant run at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games as another wrestler bagged another medal. Pooja Sihag defeated Naomi de Brune of Australia to win the bronze medal in the Women’s 76kg Freestyle category. The Indian wrestler beat her Aussie opponent 10-0 (technical superiority).

The Indian completely dominated de Brune as she took a lead of 8-0 in the first round. Pooja Sihag then returned in the second round to win two more points and finish on the winning side. Although Brune challenged the last point scored by Sihag, the referee ruled it out and declared the Indian wrestler as the winner. With this bronze medal, Sihag took India's medal tally at the 2022 CWG to a whopping 35.

Earlier in the day, Pooja Sihag defeated New Zealand's wrestler Michelle Montague in her quarterfinal bout. She won 5-2 (Victory by points) against Montague to advance to the semifinal of the event. However, the Indian could not hold her ground against the Canadian wrestler Justina di Stasio and lost 0-6 (by points) in the semifinal and had to play the bronze medal match.

Nonetheless, the 25-year-old showed great technique and temperament to take down Naomi de Brune and win another medal for India in wrestling.
