After defeating Shamil Wakeel of Sri Lanka 11-4, 11-4, 11-6 in the Round of 32, Indian ace squash player Saurav Ghosal has defeated Canadian national champion and World No 62 David Baillargeon 3-0 in Men's Singles at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Saurav Ghosal stormed into the Squash quarterfinals event of the Men's Singles category after beating Baillargeon 11-6, 11-2, 11-6 on Sunday at the Birmingham Games 2022.

The 35-year-old Indian squash player maintained his composure in the Round of 16 fixture as he dominated his Canadian counterpart in the first game with a score of 11-6. However, Saurav's fifth point in the first game was called off due to an obstruction by the Indian player. The same thing happened when the score was 9-5, and 9-6 with Saurav in the lead.

Saurav kicked off the second game on a high note with an early lead of 3-0 to eventually won the game by 11-2. The Canadian was left frustrated after losing the two games in a row and started the third game confidently with a 3-0 lead but couldn't pull off a comeback and lost the final game against the Indian player 11-6.

After defeating Shamil Wakeel, and David Baillargeon in straight sets, the Indian Squash player Saurav Ghosal is expected to repeat the same performance against Greg Lobban of Scotland in the Men's Singles quarterfinals.
