After a clear win in Women's doubles and singles, the Indian duo of Harmeet Desai & Sathiyan Gnanasekaran won the Match 1 of the Men's category on Day 1 of the Commonwealth Games. The duo registered a win in a neck-and-neck battle in first game, taking the set 11-9.
In the second set too, India overpowered the Barbados duo of Farley and Knight 11-9. Going into the third set with confidence, the Indian duo continued their dominance after taking an early lead.
With an error in the last match point, the Indian pair registered a comprehensive win to take the third set 11-4.
Earlier in the day, Reeth & Sreeja started with a win over the South African duo of Lailaa Edwards and Danisha Patel. After this, Manika Batra continued her brilliant run, winning the singles game 11-5,11-3,11-2 over South Africa Mushfiquh Kalam.
In the last game of the women's category, Sreeja Akula battled past Danisha Patel, winning the game in three straight sets.
Sathiyan Gnanasekaran will next meet Tyrese Knight of Barbados in the men's singles game.
