India won the tie in women’s table tennis group event on Day 2 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games. It was Sreeja Akula and Reeth Tennison to begin the tie with a comfortable win over Guyana, followed by Manika Batra taking an easy lead for India.
The 2-0 lead was further carried forward by Reeth Rishiya who went past Chelsea Edghill taking the three sets 11-7, 14-12, 13-11.
India wins first medal at CWG 2022
Talking of the other disciplines in the ongoing Commonwealth Games, India opened their medal tally with Sanket Sagar bagging a silver. The 21-year-old won a silver after being in contention to take the gold in Men’s 55kg weightlifting.
On the other hand, India’s Gururaja Poojary lifted his personal best of 151 kg in Clean And Jerk to win bronze at CWG 2022.
