Indian wrestler Naveen comfortably won the sixth gold for the Indian contingent in wrestling event at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Saturday. Naveen defeated Mohammad Sharif Tahir of Pakistan to clinch his maiden CWG gold in Birmingham.

The 19-year-old Indian wrestler took the early lead of two points by forcing his Pakistani counterpart on the ground in the first round. Naveen looked in a commanding position throughout the game as he didn't give his opponent a chance to comeback.

In the second round, Naveen took the game at another level as he registered a 9-0 lead with a minute and 30 seconds remaining on the clock.

Earlier, the 19-year-old Indian wrestler thrashed England's Charlie Bowling 12-1 to enter Men's Freestyle 74 kg final before defeating Hong Yeow Lou of Singapore in the quarterfinal.

Meanwhile, India's Ravi Dahiya and Vinesh Phogat also won the gold medal for India at the CWG 2022 on Saturday in their respective categories.
