Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Ravi Kumar Dahiya registered a comfortable win over Ebikewenimo Welson of Nigeria in the Men's freestyle 57 kg wrestling final at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Saturday. This is the fourth gold medal for India in wrestling event in Birmingham.

Ravi defeated his Nigerian opponent by technical superiority to win the gold medal for India.

Ravi started the opening round with sheer dominance as he was announced the winner after just two minutes and 16 seconds in the game. It was the Commonwealth Games debut for the 24-year-old Indian wrestler, who won the gold by thrashing his opponent 10-0 in the men's 57 kg final.

The Nigerian was no match for Haryana-based wrestler as he forced Ebikewenimo on the ground and quickly rolled him over thrice to take an 8-0 lead instantly in the first two minutes of the game.

Earlier, India's Ravi Kumar Dahiya thrashed Asad Ali of Pakistan 12-4 to enter the Men's Freestyle 57kg final. Meanwhile, Indian wrestler Pooja Gehlot made a sensational comeback to defeat Christelle Lemofack of Scotland 12-2 after conceding two early points in the match. Pooja won bronze medal for India in women's 50 kg category.
