The Indian DOTA 2 kicked off the Group Stage of Commonwealth Esports Championships 2022 on Wednesday with a win over Trinidad & Tobago. The Indian team received a walkover victory as the opponent team didn’t show up at the event. The second day of the CWEC 2022 DOTA 2 group stage will see India go head to head against Wales and England. 

Two teams from each group will enter the playoffs of the DOTA 2 Open at CWEC 2022 which will set the stage for a Grand Finale on 7 August. India had a great performance during the regional qualifiers of Commonwealth Esports Championships 2022 as they defeated Sri Lanka twice while winning one round each against Bangladesh and Pakistan. 

The Indian team with Moin Ejaz, Ketan Goyal, Abhishek Yadav, Shubham Goli and Vishal Vernekar then finished second behind Pakistan to book their spot at the CWEC 2022. The same team will also play in the Asian Games in the DOTA 2 next year. 

Talking about the game, the groups for the DOTA 2 tournament at CWEC 2022 are Group A & Group B. Group A comprises of Trinidad and Tobago, England, Wales and India. While, Group B includes Pakistan, New Zealand, and Malaysia. But with Trinidad & Tobago and Pakistan not being present at the Group stage on Day 1, hence both teams are out of the competition now.

For the second day, India will face Wales at 2:45 PM IST and then take on England at 5:15 PM IST in the Group Stage. The DOTA 2 matches will take place in a Best of one format with a total of five rounds. 

After these two matches, the top two teams from each group will enter the playoffs of the CWEC 2022 DOTA 2 Open. The playoff matches are scheduled for later today and will be played in a  best-of-three format where each match will have five rounds. The first semi-final will start at 7:00 PM IST which will be followed by the second semi-final scheduled for 10:00 PM (IST) start.

Whereas in the Rocket League event, the Indian team of Hargun Singh, Sandeep Sahani and Rushil Reddy lost to Canada 3-0.
