Dewald Brevis has been one of the names who has been making the noise in world of cricket in last few months. The youngster from South Africa sparked an exciting bidding war on Day 1 of IPL 2022 mega auction, where a couple of franchises showed keen interest in securing his services. However, in the end, it was Mumbai Indians who won the battle as they secured the signing of Brevis for Rs 3 crore.

For some people, it came as a surprise to see an uncapped overseas player getting such an amount but those who followed the recently-concluded Under-19 World Cup could understand the reason behind the same. The 18-year-old caught everyone’s attention with his remarkable display of batting in the mega event, where he ended up as the player of the tournament.


His mesmerizing range of shots and style of play instantly got everyone to draw parallels with AB de Villiers and it was later revealed that the youngster has idolized Mr. 360 and is actually known as ‘Baby AB’ by his teammates.

Interestingly, he has played for Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool (Affies) which is the same school of AB de Villiers. To add to it, he also dons jersey no. 17 (ABD’s number).
