RB Leipzig will be up against Borrusia Dortmund (BVB) in Berlin to battle for the DFB Pokal trophy. Dortmund will be looking to win their fifth title, having reached the final six times in the last ten years. Leipzig remains second on the points table in Bundesliga even after losing their previous match to Dortmund 3-2. However, BVB was helped by that win as they moved up to fourth place, keeping their Champions League hopes alive for the next season.
Christopher Nkunku and Tyler Adams remain sidelined due to a back problem. Lazar Samardzic is out for the rest of the season with a meniscus injury. Dominik Szoboszlai also remains a doubt due to his ongoing groin problem.
Dortmund’s long-term absentees include Dan-Axel Zagadou, Axel Witsel, Marcel Schmelzer, and Youssoufa Moukoko. At the same time, Mateu Morey is due for a long layoff after sustaining a cruciate ligament injury in the semi-finals. However, Erling Haaland is expected to return after skipping the weekend match.
Leipzig will try to strike once more, but with just two victories in their last five games, they are now looking for traction. On the other hand, Dortmund has won five games in a row in all competitions and will have powerhouse striker Haaland back in time for the clash, giving them a clear edge.
After the departure of Timo Werner, Leipzig has struggled with goals. None of their players has hit over 7 goals this season, where the likes of Lewandowski is netting 39 goals. Still, Marcel Sabitzer, a versatile midfield player, will try his best to win their first match against BVB this season.
