It has been an entertaining series between India and West Indies on Caribbean soil. The recently completed ODI series witnessed both the teams involved in a tough tussle. However, the Indian team were clinical in both departments to complete a series of whitewash.

Now the action has switched to the shortest format, which will be the key this year, due to the T20 World Cup scheduled later in the year. India started off on a strong note with the positive mindset of Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma.

After Surya was dismissed for 24, the West Indies team were able to open the floodgates of India’s batting unit. Shreyas Iyer (0), Rishabh Pant (14), and Hardik Pandya were major disappointments. Skipper Rohit Sharma delivered a knock of 64 off 44 balls. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja did look impressive with his knock of 16 off 13, but he could not stay at the crease for the critical last few overs.

Finisher DK Back Again!

Riding on the back of superb IPL performances, Dinesh Karthik has managed to replicate it in international cricket as well. In the initial part of his innings, the 37-year-old looked a touch rusty to time the ball in a solid fashion.

However, the 19th over witnessed him changing the gear to release the pressure as he hit 10 runs off the last two balls. In the last over, he hit two fours and a six and ended on an unbeaten 41 off 19. Along with Ashwin’s support, the Indian team finished with a score of 190.

West Indies lose key wickets early

It was a terrific start by Kyle Mayers, who looked all set to take the opposition by storm. However, after hitting a four and a six off Arshdeep Singh, Mayers (15) was holed out in the same over. The experienced all-rounder Jason Holder (0) could not make full use of the opportunity. In the sixth over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar cleaned up Shamarh Brooks (20) as well.
