Acknowledging her brilliance and the sense of pride that weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has brought to the nation after winning the silver medal in women's 49 kg weightlifting yesterday at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics, pizza giant Domino's has promised her free pizzas for a lifetime.

It so happened that after the accomplishment of her mission, Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, along with her coach Vijay Sharma, was taken on air by the official broadcasters where the interviewer asked her about the post-mission plans, laying out before her the reckoning of the fact that she had had enough diet control and disciplinarian approach coming to the Olympics and that the win-now calls for a celebration.

To that, the weightlifter promptly replied that she was looking forward to treating herself to pizzas, adding that the Italian delicacy happens to be her favourite.

On that, American pizza giant's Indian branch, Domino's India took it upon itself and announced via a tweet that it would offer free pizzas to Mirabai Chanu for a lifetime. "She said it, we heard it. We never want Mirabai Chanu to wait to eat (pizza) again so we're treating her to FREE Domino's pizza for life! #PizzasforLife," read the tweet.

Earlier, the weightlifter was promised a sum of Rs 1 crore by Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, along with a job opportunity better than her current profile at the Railways. In a video interaction that the Chief Minister had with Chanu after her exploits, he was clear in saying that Chanu would no longer be collecting tickets and that he has reserved a special post for her which he wants to keep as a surprise.
