Self-belief and hard work will always earn you success. This may sound like a cliche but is equally relevant. Time and again this saying has been proved right and it has been done once again by Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik. The wicketkeeper batter has earned a place in India’s squad for South Africa T20Is.
After sitting out for almost three years, Karthik will be back playing in the blue jersey. He has been rewarded by the selectors for his exceptional performance in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Karthik has smashed 287 runs in 14 games at a mind-bobbling strike rate of 191.33. He has won quite a few games on his own this season.
But before this season, Karthik’s cricketing future was in doubt with him not performing for his franchise. He was also not having the best domestic season. With the cricketer going into the commentary box, many did not give him a chance to play for India again. But the cricketer believed in himself and backed him to make a comeback. Whenever he was asked about his future, he said he will return.
Even in his reply to Rohit Sharma on his post from Karthik’s commentary days, the wicketkeeper batter had shown great belief in his abilities. To Rohit Sharma’s comment “You still have some cricket left. FYI”, Karthik had replied, “Don’t ever doubt that Sham”.

After getting included in India’s squad for the five-match T20I series against South Africa, Karthik shared an inspirational post. He shared a picture of himself in Indian jersey and wrote a beautiful caption alongside. “If you believe yourself, everything will fall into place! ✨Thank you for all the support and belief...the hard work continues…” wrote Karthik.
