After not getting a single game in the first half of IPL 2021, spinner Kuldeep Yadav is not too sure about what lies ahead of him as he gears up for the second half of the tournament this year in UAE. While he is not considered as one of their leading spinners in the team, Kuldeep admitted that there was a lack of communication in the team including that from captain Eoin Morgan.
While the left-arm chinaman was regarded as one of the finest spinners in white-ball cricket not too long ago, a few poor outings have seen him lose his place not only in the Indian national team but also in franchise cricket. If he is not able to find a place in the KKR XI, it would get very difficult for the spinner to make a case for himself and try and get back into the national team.
He made these revelations on cricketer-turned commentator Aakash Chopra's YouTube Channel.
It becomes very difficult when the communication is weak: Kuldeep
"If the coaches have worked with you before and are with you for a prolonged period of time, they understand you better. But it becomes very difficult when the communication is weak. Sometimes you don’t even know that whether you will be playing or not, or what the team expects from you," he said.
"Sometimes you feel that you are deserving to play, can win matches for the team, but you don’t know the reason why you are not playing. The management comes for 2 months with their plans, so that makes it difficult," he added.
Nobody gave me an explanation: Kuldeep
Kuldeep also expressed the fact that perhaps communication with an overseas captain can get a little difficult when there is a non-selection. He even said that had it been an Indian skipper instead of the Englishman Morgan, he would have walked up to him and asked the reason behind him not getting game time.
"In the Indian team they talk to you when you are not selected, but it does not happen in the IPL. I remember that I had spoken to the franchise before the IPL but in the matches that happened in the middle, nobody gave me an explanation. I was a bit shocked. I felt like there was no trust, like they had no faith in my skill. This happens when the team has many options. KKR now has plenty of spin bowling options," the 26-year-old said.
