Wriddhiman Saha has lost his place in the national squad and he is not so optimistic about his chances either. The 37-year-old wicketkeeper batter has said that as the selectors had made it clear right after the South Africa tour and their decision to leave him (Saha) out of for England tour despite a decent IPL season only validate their statements. Notably, Wriddhiman Saha has been replaced by KS Bharat in India’s Test squad.

In a recent interaction, Saha opened up on multiple topics including his future in the Indian cricket team. The 37-year-old Bengal cricketer said that he is not thinking about playing for India and is rather looking to just play cricket. Saha further added that he will continue playing till he feels good. “Don’t think so I will be selected for India anymore," the wicketkeeper-batter told Sports Tak in an interview.

“Coach and chief selectors had already informed me. If they wanted to select me, I could have been part of the England tour based on my IPL performance. It’s a clear decision (on their part). But I am only concerned about playing cricket. Till the time I am feeling good, I will continue,” he added.

I have planned to play for some other states: Saha

The Bengal cricketer also talked about the reports of him joining some other states’ teams in the domestic circuit. Saha revealed that an incident (a statement from a CAB) hurt him personally and he decided to not play for Bengal then and there.

“An incident happened before IPL. I had decided then and there to not play for Bengal ever again. After playing for so long someone from CAB makes a comment like that (on me) and don’t act on them, it hurt me personally. So I have planned to play for some other states. I have been speaking to several of them but nothing is finalised yet," Saha said.
