India pulled off a brilliant run chase against the West Indies in the second match of the three-match ODI series to go 2-0 up and take an unassailable lead. Axar Patel was the hero for India with his unbeaten knock of 64 runs off just 35 balls. The all-rounder kept his calm in pressure situations to push India over the line. But, as Shreyas Iyer reveals, coach Rahul Dravid was not so calm during the chase.

Dravid, who is usually a cool and calm customer, was all tensed and was losing his cool while India were chasing the stiff target set by the Windies. The Indian head coach was also passing messages along to the batters in the middle. Shreyas Iyer, who scored a brilliant half-century and set the tone for the coming batters, talked about the atmosphere in the dressing room and revealed how the coach was all panicking.

While talking about how was the environment when the match went into the last over and the team needed six runs off three balls, Iyer said it was fun but Rahul Dravid was getting tensed. “It was fun, to be honest. We all were sitting together. Rahul sir was getting pretty tensed, he was passing on messages. But, yeah, a lot of players showed a lot of emotions there. They were very calm and composed in pressure situations,” said Iyer while describing the atmosphere.

“Since we have played so many matches lately, all the emotions we have seen them and today was just another game for us to replicate those emotions. And I think we did pretty well, especially Axar. The way he finished off today, outstanding knock”, he added.

Really unhappy the way I was dismissed: Iyer

The batter further talked about his knock of 63 off 71 balls and said that he was happy and unhappy at the same time. Iyer said that while he was happy to score runs, he was not too pleased with the way he lost his wicket.

"I was happy with what I scored today but unhappy with the way I was dismissed. I could have taken the team through easily. I was setting up the total and it was unfortunate that I lost my wicket. Hopefully, I can do better and score a century in the next match," said Shreyas after the game.
