UFC Lightweight fighter Dustin Poirier is looking for his next opponent in the octagon. ‘The Diamond’ last faced Charles Oliveira for his Lightweight championship but suffered a crushing defeat. It’s been five months and Poirier is now ready to face his new opponent. Recently, Poirier expressed his urge to fight via Twitter.

The 33-year-old recently tweeted, “I want to fight”. Soon this tweet received a response from a possible opponent, Gilbert Burns from the Welterweight division. Durninho offered to fight ‘The Diamond’ but placed a condition as Burns wrote, “170? ?,” asking him to move up a weight class from 155lbs to 170lbs.

Recently, after defeating Jorge Masvidal, Colby Covington had called out Poirier for a fight but the Diamond didn’t accept this invitation. Covington said, “I just took care of Miami street trash, now it’s time to take care of Louisiana swamp trash. Where you at Dustin Poirier, you cuck. You said it’s on-site. Name the site, Dustin. Bring that jezebel of a wife and bring that little kid and I’ll see you soon. You’re next.”

Poirier replied as he said, "If I fight Colby, we're both going to jail. I'm going to jail. I'm not going to fight him in the Octagon. He's not making money off of my career and what I've done. This is something different. You will never see me fight Colby Covington in the UFC."

Nate Diaz also floated the idea about a fight with the Diamond while speaking to TMZ. Diaz said, "I would like to fight Dustin Poirier. Like now. Like I've been trying to. If there's any mix-up it's him, and them, and the game. I want the fight now. What's up Dana White? Let's get this retirement fight cracking so I can get out of this fight game. I'm done with it."

According to reports, UFC President Dana White has also expressed his interest in this fight as he said, "Of course, we're interested [in that fight]. This is what we do. We make fights every weekend. What happens is guys just want to jump out of nowhere. 'I want to do this, I want to do that.' We have fights booked all the way to, I want to say May 2. Everything is in place. Everything is done. Obviously, Nate Diaz will get a fight."
