The eighth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is set to start on January 21, with the final being played on February 18. Earlier, it was reported that the tournament will kick off on January 20 but now it has been shifted to a day later. Earlier, it was confirmed that six teams will participate in the tournament.

A total number of 34 matches will be held in 3 venues- SBNCS (Dhaka), ZACS (Chattogram) and (SICS) Sylhet. Meanwhile, the Player draft of the BPL 2022 is set to take place on December 27.

Category for Bangladeshi cricketers-

A - 70 lac BDT

B - 35 lac BDT

C - 25 lac BDT

D - 18 lac BDT

E - 12 lac BDT

F - 5 lac BDT

Category for Foreign cricketers-

A- $75K

B- $50K

C- $40K

D- $30K

E- $20K

According to rules, a team can recruit 1 local player from any category as a direct signing prior to the Player Draft. A team can register a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 14 local players.

Talking about the regulations for overseas players, each team can register a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 foreign players. A maximum of 3 players can be registered outside of the Player Draft as direct signings. The regulation also states that each team must include three (03) overseas players in its playing XI.
