After winning the three-match T20I series by 2-1 against England, Team India have set their eyes on winning the three-match ODI series against the Three Lions. The ODI series will kick off on Tuesday, July 12 at the Oval in London. On the other hand, England have showed a promising display of batting as they put 215 runs on the board in the third T20I against India that helped them to win the match by 17 runs. England batters would look to continue their form in the ODIs as well.
During the Vitality Blast this year, we have witnessed many high-scoring games at the Kennington Oval in London. The pitch is likely to have balanced, hard and bouncy surface that could assist both the bowlers and the batters. Spinners would be more effective in the middle overs while batting first will be the preference of the captain winning the toss.
The Three Lions have won the last T20I against India to avoid a series white-wash as Dawid Malan and Liam Livingstone delivered match-winning performances. Addition of all-rounder Ben Stokes and reliable Joe Root will increase England’s chances to win ODI matches against India. The English side have won their last seven ODI matches before losing to India in March 2021.
After losing the 5th rescheduled Test, the Men in Blue bounced back to win the first two T20I matches against England by 50 and 49 runs respectively. However, India under skipper Rohit Sharma suffered their first defeat in T20Is after winning 14 consecutive matches. Team India will look to bounce back as they face England for the first ODI on Tuesday at the Oval. Indian batters Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda are in terrific form and Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s man of the series performance in T20Is will boost his confidence.
India lost their last away ODI series against South Africa by 3-0 in January and will look to win their first away ODI series in 2022. However, England look stronger on paper with the availability of more in-form players and could lead India by winning the first match of the three-match ODI series.
