Preview

After a crushing defeat in the 5th Test, India will be aiming to make a comeback in the white-ball series. With the return of Rohit Sharma, the Men in Blue will be charged up but a few big names will be missed in the 1st T20I. Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant will pair up with the white-ball squad from the second T20I onwards. Meanwhile, England will be itching to take the field under their new captain Jos Buttler. The match is all set to be played at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.

Pitch Report

The Rose Bowl pitch is usually a belter of a wicket with plenty of runs on offer. With no grass on the pitch, the ball comes on nicely onto the bat which means batters will enjoy the pitch. Meanwhile, bowlers will rely on weather for some movement early in the game.

Team Analysis

India

India will not have their main squad available for the 1st T20I. Barring Rohit Sharma all the members who were in Ireland will be featuring in the first game of the 3-match T20I series. Although these players put on an emphatic performance against Ireland, it won’t be the same against a much-stronger England. In KL Rahul’s absence, Ishan Kishan is all set to pair up with Rohit Sharma at the top of the order.

Deepak Hooda may be asked to bat at No.3 considering his heroics in Ireland. Suryakumar Yadav will take the No.4 spot while Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik will follow him at 5 and 6, respectively. Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan, and Axar Patel are expected to form the bowling attack for India.

England

After saving the 5-match Test series in some style, England will eye claiming the white-ball series as well. Although a different squad will feature in the limited-overs matches, the confidence will reflect in their gameplay. Also, England are coming on the back of a remarkable victory over the Netherlands in the 3-match ODI series. All their players are in a red-hot form including captain Jos Buttler. Moeen Ali will also play a crucial role for England. Liam Livingstone, meanwhile, will try to replicate his form from T20 leagues in international cricket.
