England and Wales Cricket Board announced a 16-member squad for the Royal London ODI series against Sri Lanka. Led by Eoin Morgan, the squad features England’s key ODI specialists including Joe Root, Mark Wood, Jonathan Bairstow amongst others. The Royal London 3-match ODI series is set to take off from June 29 at Emirates Riverside, Durham. Sussex fast bowler George Garton has received his maiden international call up for the ODI series. The left-arm pacer has been a regular in England Lions' white-ball plans since he was 19 and will be looking forward to making it to the playing XI.

We have been monitoring the progress of George Garton for quite some time: England Head Coach

England Head Coach Chris Silverwood appreciated the Sussex’s bowler's abilities, especially to bowl quick. “We have been monitoring the progress of George Garton for quite some time. His ability to bowl quickly with his point of difference being a left-arm certainly gives us options in this series, and he deserves his chance at this level,” Silverwood mentioned.

The England coach further mentioned that several key players weren’t available for the selection, owing to their injuries. This includes Reece Topley (side strain), Saqib Mahmood (abdominal) and Jofra Archer (right elbow). He further gave an update that the players are making excellent progress from their respective injuries.
