In a recent development, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have announced the women's squad for the three-match T20I series against India. The series is set to get underway on Friday with the opening match scheduled at The County Ground, Northampton. While Danni Wyatt and Mady Villiers are back among the 14-member squad, Kate Cross and Lauren Winfield-Hill will return to their regional squads and hence will be available for selection in the Charlotte Edwards Cup.

While England were close to winning the one-off Test match against India which started off India's tour, before the visiting team managed to draw the match in a rain-affected encounter on the final day, the hosts clinched the three-match ODI series 2-1. While England had won the first two games of the series comfortably, it was India who won the final ODI in a series which saw Mithali Raj emerge as the highest run-getter from both teams.

I'd like us to hit the ground running in the first T20I:  Keightley

Talking about the same, England women's coach Lisa Keightley observed that they have played some good cricket in the Test as well as ODIs and would look to continue the same in the T20I series. However, she noted that their performance in the final ODI wasn't quite up to the mark.

"We've played some good cricket across both the Test and ODIs and we've named a strong squad for the IT20 series. It's 6-4 in the multi-format series and we're pushing hard to win," she was quoted as saying in an official release.

"We probably weren't quite at our best in the third ODI so I'd like us to hit the ground running in the first IT20 and be ruthless," she added.
