After winning the toss and batting first, India started on a disastrous note as they lost KL Rahul in the first over of the day. Veteran James Anderson produced a brilliant delivery which KL Rahul could not keep out. The opener departed on duck in the first over. However, soon after, India suffered another blow as Cheteshwar Pujara edged out to Jos Buttler and got dismissed on 1. The veteran batsman has been struggling since the Australia tour and has been under critiques radar for a long time.
Twitter was not happy either with Pujara’s performance and was quick to criticise the batsman’s technique. While some called it Pujara’s last Test series, others opined that Suryakumar Yadav should be included in place of the former.

Pujara not learning from his past dismissals ?

This series might be the end of Chesteshwar Pujara.
Looks very very low of confidence at the highest level.
Also, gets out to some peach deliveries.#ENGvIND

Feel for Pujara. 2nd inns is now so crucial for his continued place in the side. If India wins then maybe he would retain his place, despite a 2nd inns failure.
But if India don't win and he fails in the 2nd inns, it will be curtains.#INDvENG #ENGvIND #ENGvsIND #INDvsENG

Enough is enough. It’s time to give someone else a chance in place of Pujara.? #INDvENG

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and skipper Virat Kohli are currently at the crease. At the time of writing the copy, India were 19/2 after 10 overs and both the batsmen were making sure the team doesn’t lose any more wickets before lunch. Anderson has been the pick of the bowlers for the home side, with two wickets. CLICK HERE for LIVE SCORECARD
