The Chess Esports World Cup 2026 will be held from 11 August to 15 August 2026 in Paris, France. The event is organized by the Esports World Cup Foundation, ESL FACEIT Group, and Chess.com.

This year's tournament was originally planned for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but was later moved to Paris.

Chess Esports World Cup 2026 Format

The tournament will feature 22 players and will be played offline using a 10-minute rapid time control with no increment.

Stage 1 - Play-ins

  • 8 players

  • Double-elimination bracket

  • Two games per match

  • Armageddon game used as the tiebreaker

Stage 2 – Group Stage

  • 16 players divided into four groups

  • GSL format

  • Two games per match

  • Armageddon tiebreaker if needed

Stage 3 - Playoffs

  • Single-elimination bracket

  • Quarterfinals: Four games per match

  • Semifinals: Six games per match

Grand Final: Best-of-three sets

  • First two sets feature four games each.

  • If required, the final set will consist of two games.
