The Hungary-Portugal Euro Cup 2020 encounter has already kicked off and is well into the first half. However, more than the live-action, it is the crowd that is attracting the attention of the fans watching it on live television. This is because they will be treated to a rare thrill of a capacity sporting crowd amid the Coronavirus pandemic. However, be rest assured there is no trickery or computer graphics but indeed over 60,000 people cheering for their favourite side inside the stadium.

It should be noted that the Hungarian Football Association had taken the decision to pack their national stadium for its four Euro 2020 fixtures based upon their Government's ambitious vaccination programme. It is worth highlighting that some 5.3 million out of a population of 9.8 million had been vaccinated by the start of Euro 2020 on June 11, which makes it over 54 per cent of the population.

Hungary hosting European Champions Portugal followed by World Champion France

While the European Opinion is opposed to making use of the vaccines from Russia and China, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban defied such oppositions to accelerate the vaccination programme as well as lift the lockdown regulations.

Although the implications of the decision may well be known afterwards, currently Hungary are host to Portugal after which, they will welcome France in what is being termed the Group of Death- the Group F.
