The first leg of Europa League Round of 16 will see Manchester United host AC Milan on Thursday. Both the teams have had an excellent league season, and currently sit at second in their respective league tables. While the Red Devils will take on to the pitch after a 2-0 win against league leaders Manchester City, the visitors will also enter the game on back of 2-0 win against Hellas Verona.
As both powerhouse teams are in a tough place to win the league, they will try level best to add Europa League to the cabinet this season. Expect the game to be a fun-filled contest as two attacking sides will try to get better of one another.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be missing Donny van de Beek, Edinson Cavani, and Paul Pogba from his squad for the match against AC Milan. And while the side have performed well without their stars for quite sometime, the team’s creativity goes drastically down without them. Although as the squad will be having enough rest, one can expect a shrewd strategy from the end of the Red Devils for this clash.
The Rossoneri will be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ante Rebic, and Hakan Calhanoglu for the high-voltage fixture. However, one can expect Pioli to still line-up for an attacking game. With major forwards missing and an attacking game plan, Milan may try to get a valuable away goal regardless of the final scoreline. One can expect Rafael Leao to head the attacking for the men in black and red.
The game may turn out to be an end-to-end contest given both sides’ inclination towards attacking. However, with major players missing from both the ends, we can expect a cautionary approach from the teams as well. Notably, both the teams have been in an excellent league form this season, and are nearly certain to end in Champions League spot anyway. Therefore, it will be battle for glory and silverware, and that should see both the sides going full-throttle.
For fantasy team, it is recommended to make two teams for the fixture – one with more forwards and attacking players, and other with more defenders and defensive players. Reason being, in case the attacks neutralize one another, a 0-0 draw will see defenders getting better points.
