After a brilliant outing in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh is already preparing for his next assignment i.e. India’s five-match T20I series against South Africa. The left-arm quick literally earned a place in the national squad with his consistent performances in the biggest T20 league.

Singh was among the best bowlers in the death overs as he bowled with an economy rate of 7.31 runs per over. With his consistency at bowling yorkers, Arshdeep drew the attention of selectors and eventually got a place in the T20I squad. Although his team has been knocked out and Arshdeep is back at his home taking some rest, the pacer is also readying himself to play at the biggest level.

Singh has a simplified mantra ahead of the big national debut. The 23-year-old says he expects nothing and is trying to be ready for every situation that may come his way. “Expecting nothing and be ready for everything,” Arshdeep swears by these words and that is how he is approaching his first series as an India cricketer.

Talking about his selection in the national team, Arshdeep said he is happy but doesn’t want to think much. The 23-year-old also believes that he just needs to continue with what he has been doing so far and does not need to change anything.

“I am just happy to be in the Indian team. I don’t rate my performance at all. I am just doing my job. If I think about all those things then thoughts will come up and my mind will get blurred,” said Arshdeep. “I feel I don’t need to change anything for the highest level. I just want to maintain my consistency,” he added.

Notably, Arshdeep Singh ended IPL 2022 with 10 wickets with an economy rate of 7.70.
