In a significant development related to E-Sports, release dates and features of EA and Codemasters' upcoming F1 22 have been announced. As per the notification, July 1 has been set as the release date and features like Sprint races, adaptive AI, VR, and updated track layouts for Australia, Spain and Abu Dhabi have been added to enhance the experience for users

Lee Mather, F1 Senior Creative Director at Codemasters, was quoted in the press release stating that the adaptive AI will keep less experienced players competitive throughout each race, with opposing AI racers tailored to match the skill level. He further added saying that alongside the real-world changes, the e-sport version has also been updated and so is the physics to accommodate the new aero rules and re-work on the tyre model.

"We have updated the handling mode more true to a real-life game. With newly updated circuits, Adaptive AI, F1 Life, and expanded gameplay options, there has never been a better time for players to take their seats and live the life of F1 drivers," he concluded.

Gamers will also be able to test out the new Miami International Autodrome, and the PC version of the game also comes with VR compatibility. But there is no information from EA on whether F1 22 will come with PSVR support. In an announcement posted on the official website, EA revealed that the game will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, and PC via the EA App, Origin, Steam and the Epic Games store. Gamers who pre-order the F1 22 Champions Edition will be able to access the game three days earlier, on July 28.

As per the notification, F1 Life is another main updated feature. "It's been a customisable hub with players able to show off clothing, accessories and even supercars. Those supercars will also be driveable in the 'Pirelli Hot Laps' mode. VR functionality has been mentioned, albeit only for PC via Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Changes to career mode include updated practice programs and one of three options for your team's starting budget.
