F1 Driver's Championship 2022: Latest driver & team standing after French GP

Max Verstappen clinched his seventh win of the 2022 F1 season at the French Grand Prix.

Red Bull's reigning champion Max Verstappen extended his lead further ahead of Charles Leclerc in the drivers' standings after clinching the pole position at recently concluded French Grand Prix. Despite starting second, Verstappen grabbed the opportunity after his arch-rival spun and crashed out on Lap 18 as the latter scored his seventh win of the season at French Grand Prix.

Verstappen's lead is now 63 points over Leclerc as he bids for a second successive driver's title. His teammate Sergio Perez's fourth position in France promoted him to within seven position of Leclerc, and 19 points ahead of Carlos Sainz.

While, Leclerc had a disappointing end to his French GP race, Mercedes duo in Lewis Hamilton and George Russell came second and third respectively to give Mercedes their maiden double-podium finish of the season . Sainz, who is just one point ahead of Russell, is 16 points ahead of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Speaking of the constructor's standings, Red Bull's 37 points in France moves it to 396 points which is 82 points ahead of Ferrari. Mercedes outsourced Ferrari by 22 points, closing the gap by 44 points.
