AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis are two huge names in international cricket. But above all, the two are friends and somebody who played for the same high school in South Africa before going to represent the country at the highest level of cricket. Until recently, Faf du Plessis was part of the Chennai Super Kings franchise while AB de Villiers was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad in the IPL.
However, after ABD announced his retirement from IPL, Bangalore not only roped in Faf du Plessis at the auction but also named the skipper of the team in IPL 2022. While filling the shoes of AB, a player known for his 360-degree range of strokes, is a huge thing in itself, Faf made sure that he did not let RCB fans fill De Villiers’ void. However, even CSK fans celebrated Faf’s knock and reminded RCB fans that he is a CSK product.
Du Plessis finished with an 88 from 57 balls and even played a scoop shot behind the wicket against Punjab Kings, much like the original Mr 360. Following his great innings, a section of the fans on social media are convinced that Faf is in fact greater than ABD. However, others are not too pleased with that assessment.

Having said that, despite Faf’s effort, RCB faced a defeat in their first match of IPL 2022. While the team had scored 205/2 in their quota of 20 overs, they failed to defend the target, losing the match with an over to spare. RCB will face Kolkata Knight Riders next on March 30.
