The Indian Premier League is a tournament which works as a pathway for unknown cricketers to showcase their potential. Talents like Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Hardik Pandya and so many others who started from IPL have went on to become permanent members in the national side. One of those exciting players was KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy. The 29-year-old bamboozled everyone with his mystery spin last year, finishing the tournament with 17 wickets at an economy of 6.84.

Journey of Varun Chakravarthy since IPL 2020

As a result of his performances, Varun was included in the Indian squad for T20s against Australia and England. However, the spinner failed to meet the fitness criteria of BCCI and was unfortunately dropped. The 29-year-old was undoubtedly disappointed and wanted to prove a point. Varun did that on Sunday when he bowled a superb over to dismiss Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar, leaving everyone in awe of the spinner. While he completely deceived RCB skipper with the flight of the ball, Patidar had no answers to a peach of a delivery from Varun.

Twitter went berserk after Varun's impressive over as fans started to request BCCI to reconsider the fitness policy and include the mystery spinner for the upcoming T20 world cup. Some of them went on to say that the 29-year-old is the best spinner in the country at the moment.
