Bangladesh secured a sensational 33-run win over Sri Lanka in the first ODI of the 3-match series in Dhaka. It was certainly a roller-coaster contest on Sunday as the tides were constantly shifting between both the camps throughout the match.
After Dhananjaya de Silva took two wickets on two consecutive deliveries to put his side on top, Bangladesh made their way back into the match on the back of Mushfiqur Rahim's brilliant 84-run knock. Chasing a target of 258, Sri Lanka made a complete mess as they found themselves reeling at 149/7 in 31.1 overs. With hopes gone and lost, Wanindu Hasaranga played a spectacular innings of 74 runs, but unfortunately couldn't finish the job. In the end, Mehidy Hasan's 4/30 and Mustafizur Rahman's 3/34 was enough for Bangladesh to go ahead in the series.
The fans were not happy with Sri Lanka's performance on Sunday as they criticized the side's approach against Bangladesh. While some pointed out that it was embarrassing that they were unable to chase such a modest target, others were just disappointed with the downfall of the national side. Notably, most of the fans hailed Wanindu Hasaranga for the heroics he produced in Dhaka.
