The sixth edition of Pakistan Super League returned in style as the match no. 15 between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United produced a thrilling encounter in Abu Dhabi.

After winning the toss, Lahore Qalandars’ skipper Sohail Akhtar won the toss and asked Islamabad United to bat on a sluggish-looking wicket in Abu Dhabi. New-signing James Faulkner impressed in his very first outing this season as he destroyed the top order of United, dismissing the likes of Colin Munro, Rohail Nazir and captain Shadab Khan. Apart from his three-wicket haul, Ahmed Daniyal and Haris Rauf took 2 wickets each while Rashid Khan and Shaheen Afridi were also among the wickets. A short cameo by Faheem Ashraf (27 off 24) guided his side to 143/9 after the end of 20 overs.

In reply, Fakhar Zaman got his side off to a brilliant start with two consecutive deliveries but lost his way and eventually was dismissed by Ashraf with a peach of a delivery. Although it looked like a modest target, Qalandars lost their way during the chase after Hasan Ali bowled a good spell of bowling, taking two wickets. With 16 runs required off the last over, Rashid Khan shocked everyone and smashed three consecutive boundaries as Tim David’s unbeaten 23-run knock ensured a thrilling 5-wicket victory for them in a mouth-watering last-ball finish on Wednesday.

The netizens had quite a busy day in the office as both the sides produced a fantastic game of cricket. From the excitement around the resumption of the tournament to trolling Islamabad United’s shambolic batting, Twitterati produced some hilarious memes on what was a roller-coaster day for the fans of both Lahore and Islamabad.
