The Indian women’s hockey team perhaps could not win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics, but they have surely won the hearts of people with their brilliant effort. They almost defeated the defending champions in their bronze medal match. Before that, their fight against Argentina in the semifinals was a treat to watch. For those who missed the news, the women’s hockey team made it to the semifinals for the first time in Olympic history. Isn’t it an achievement in itself? These girls should be proud of themselves and so should we.
The people who understand the game came forward and lauded their efforts in the field. From the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, to Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan and Indian cricketers, everyone stood by the team. Check out the best tweets here:

India lost 3-4 to Great Britain
The history-making Indian women’s hockey team did their best to create a chance for themselves to clinch their maiden Olympics medal. Unfortunately, they could not as they lost 3-4 to Great Britain in the bronze medal match. The Indian girls played their heart out and overcame the two goal deficit and lead by 3-2 at the half time. Gurjit Kaur with a goal in the 25th and 26th minute and Vandana Katariya in the 29th minute stunned Great Britain. However, Elena Rayer, Sarah Roberston, Hollie Pearne-Webb, and Grace Balsdon found the way to the Indian net and took their team over the line.
