One of the much-awaited transfers in world football has finally been made official on Tuesday as Spanish attacker Ferran Torres has completed his move from Manchester City to FC Barcelona. An agreement between the two clubs has been reached, with the reported fees estimated to be around €55 million plus €10 million in variables.

"The player has signed a contract for the next five seasons, until 30 June 2027, and his buyout clause has been set at 1,000 million euros," FC Barcelona confirmed in an official statement. The deal was sealed after Torres passed his medicals at the Spanish club.

FC Barcelona has also confirmed that Ferran Torres will be officially presented in front of the fans on January 3 in an event which will take place at 11:00 AM CET, just before the open doors training session scheduled to begin at 12.00pm CET at Camp Nou.

The schedule for January 3, as per the official statement of Barca, is as follows (all times CET):

  • At 10.00 AM, Camp Nou doors open.
  • At 11.00 AM, Ferran Torres' presentation on the pitch at Camp Nou.
  • At 12.00 PM, first-team open doors training session.
  • At 2.00 PM, Ferran Torres remote press conference from the Ricard Maxenchs press room at Camp Nou.

Notably, the event will also broadcast live on Barca TV+ and the official digital channels of the club, from 10.30 AM CET.

Ferran Torres scored 16 goals for Manchester City

The Spanish forward is undoubtedly one of the most exciting talents in world football right now. Although he has had a tough season this year due to injuries, Ferran Torres was an integral member of Manchester City since joining the club last year. He scored 16 goals in 43 appearances for the club across all competitions, winning the Premier League and Carabao Cup with them.

After parting ways with Man City, Torres has now become the first signing for Xavi as the new head coach of FC Barcelona.
