As the stage gets set for 2022 edition of Pakistan Super League, a shocking incident happened on Tuesday night, two days before the opening clash of the tournament. Notably, short circuit occurred in the power lines at Karachi National Stadium which resulted in fire breaking out in the makeshift commentary box at the venue.

The organizers were completely caught off guard and a fire brigade had to be called to handle the situation. Eventually, they were successful in extinguishing the fire. As per sources, everyone was safe fortunately and no causalities had been reported, which comes as a huge relief.

The video of the scene has now gone viral on internet where people can be heard saying in background that had they not reacted quickly, even a blast could have happened at the venue.

PSL 2022 has already been impacted by COVID-19 outbreak

Although the tournament is currently expected to kick off on January 27 as per schedule, it hasn't been easy going for PCB. A several coronavirus cases have already been reported with a few players and support staff members testing positive for COVID-19.

Notably, some of the big names who have contracted the virus are: Kamran Akmal, Arshad Iqbal, Wahab Riaz and Haider Ali (Peshawar Zalmi) and Karachi Kings' president Wasim Akram.

However, the board has confirmed that the matches throughout the season will go an as per schedule, until the time each team has 13 players in their squad. It is going to be a huge challenge for PCB to complete the tournament on time and fans would be hoping for an uninterrupted PSL 2022.
