Algeria has announced their squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and they have already expressed their intent in winning the first game against Argentina. Riyad Mahrez will be their main player in the tournament as their attacking in the final third will be heavily dependent on him. Houssem Aouar will play a key role in the midfield in navigating the play and he could be the maestro that dictates the play in the middle areas. Algeria have been drawn into Group J and it consists of Argentina, Austria and Jordan. They will be hoping to get past the group stage and they do have a fair chance of making it into the knockout stages.

Algeria will be hoping to make an impact in this edition of the FIFA World Cup as they failed to qualify in the previous edition in Qatar. Their recent international form has been pretty good in terms of their star players performing for the country. They have 3 wins in their last 5 games and a draw against Uruguay as well. Algeria will not be the favourites to finish in the top 2 but as football could be unpredictable, they could finish in the top 2 as well. Their biggest test would be against Argentina and they would feel like they can edge past Austria and Jordan in the remaining fixtures and qualify for the next round.
